2Solar Stories: Meet Sven

Sven Hartmans

Who are you?

My name is Sven, and I was born in 1986. I live in the south of the Netherlands, in a small town called Landgraaf, which is very close to the Belgian and German borders. It’s a peaceful area surrounded by nature, which is something I really value. I live here with my wife, our two kids—my 10-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter—and our two dogs, a 12-year-old Border Collie and a 1-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Family and nature are central to my life. I love going for long walks in the forest with the dogs, taking in the beauty of the outdoors and finding peace in the simplicity of nature. It’s a great way for me to recharge and stay grounded.

Outside of family and nature, I’m a huge Marvel and Star Wars fan. These universes have always inspired me with their creativity, rich stories, and the characters that overcome obstacles and grow. I also have a passion for cooking, particularly barbecuing. Whether it’s high or low heat, I love experimenting with different culinary techniques and creating something special to enjoy with friends and family.

What is your role at 2Solar and how has it evolved since you started working at 2Solar:

In my current role as a Consultant & Implementation Specialist at 2Solar by Sollit, based in Heerlen, Limburg, I focus on helping clients in the German, Flemish, and Dutch markets. My primary goal is to ensure the software is tailored to their specific needs by setting up customized workflows and implementing technical solutions based on sales specifications. I take a client-focused approach, analyzing their processes, executing implementations, and providing training and post-delivery support. Serving as a consistent point of contact helps me maintain strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the journey.

Beyond client work, I contribute internally by improving onboarding and support processes, advising on software solutions, and actively participating in product development meetings. Collaboration is key in my role, and I work closely with the Customer Success team as well as sales and marketing departments to deliver the best outcomes. In addition, I offer consultancy for existing relationships, helping them optimize their use of the software and exploring new opportunities. What I truly enjoy about this role is the variety it offers. One day, I’m deep in a technical implementation, and the next, I’m running product presentations at trade fairs or webinars to showcase our software’s value.

I also play a part in onboarding new colleagues, especially during their first days, to help them understand our software, clients, and solutions. This role allows me to combine my technical skills with a passion for problem-solving, teamwork, and delivering meaningful results for clients. It’s fulfilling to be part of an environment where I can make a tangible impact both internally and externally.

You have been using the software of 2Solar since 2016, how has the platform and the company changed ever since?

Since its inception in 2013, 2Solar has evolved significantly and adapted to the dynamic renewable energy sector. Initially, the company focused on providing tailored software solutions for the solar energy market. Over the years, 2Solar has expanded its platform to support a broader range of sustainable energy products, including heat pumps, charging stations, and batteries, meeting the diverse needs of the energy transition industry. One of the key developments we are most proud of is how we have integrated the entire workflow into our software. From receiving leads and evaluating them, creating layout plans and quotes, and performing remote or on-site inspections, to generating execution documents, material lists, and quality checks on both sales and execution, our platform covers it all. We’ve also incorporated advanced dashboarding and scheduling features for various teams, as well as a beautiful mobile app. 2Solar has truly become a one-stop shop for managing every aspect of the process in the sustainable energy sector.

Personally, I had the pleasure of working with the software as a customer/user from 2016 to 2022. During this time, I held roles such as Sales Engineer, Project Manager, and later Team Leader of Sales and Work Preparation. This hands-on experience gave me a deep understanding of the software’s capabilities and how it truly empowers users to manage complex processes efficiently.

The company’s growth is also reflected in the expansion of its team. Starting with just four people, 2Solar has now grown to over 70 professionals, with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Germany, and Ukraine. This expansion, particularly into Belgium, Spain, and Germany, showcases 2Solar’s commitment to becoming a key player across European markets and its dedication to innovation in the renewable energy software space.

In addition to product development and team growth, 2Solar has played a crucial role in supporting over 850 companies involved in the sale, installation, and servicing of products focused on the sustainable energy sector. The company’s ability to expand across borders and support a growing number of businesses speaks to its leadership and dedication to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.

What are you most proud of about 2Solar?

I am incredibly proud of the way our teams continue to collaborate, innovate, and consistently come up with new ideas to help our clients succeed, even across borders. It’s inspiring to see how everyone is committed to providing sustainable solutions and improving processes, which not only contributes to the growth of our company but also to the success of our clients.

What does the value ‘Learning is growing’ mean to you:

To me, the value “Learning is growing” emphasizes the importance of continuous development, both personally and professionally. It’s about embracing curiosity—always seeking to understand more, whether it’s about the world around us, our work, or even ourselves. Curiosity drives creativity and innovation, which are key to moving forward. It also means adapting to change. In today’s fast-paced environment, learning is what helps us stay relevant, resilient, and ready to face new challenges. With every new skill or piece of knowledge, we gain confidence in our ability to make informed decisions and solve problems effectively.

Another important aspect is empowering others. I believe sharing what we learn not only strengthens teams but also fosters growth in the broader community or organization. It’s a way of contributing to collective success. Finally, learning is about realizing potential—unlocking new opportunities, overcoming challenges, and striving for excellence. For me, every experience is a chance to reflect, grow, and become better. That mindset has always guided my approach to both work and life.
